Come be part of the Legacy team, where attitude, adaptability, and excellence come together

 Maintenance Position – Part-Time or Full-Time Opportunity

Legacy Sport Horses is looking for a dependable, hands-on person to help keep our beautiful equestrian facility and property running smoothly.

This position is perfect for someone who is naturally handy, enjoys variety, takes pride in keeping things well maintained, and is comfortable working independently. We’re looking for the person who notices when something needs attention—and takes care of it.

Responsibilities may include:

• Routine preventative maintenance on tractors, ATVs, arena equipment, and other farm equipment
• Minor equipment troubleshooting and repairs
• Fence and gate repairs
• Adjusting and maintaining barn doors and hardware
• Lawn mowing, weed trimming, and general grounds care
• Arena and property maintenance
• Seasonal projects and upkeep
• General repairs and those everyday projects that come with maintaining a large horse facility

We are not looking for a heavy-equipment mechanic. Major mechanical repairs will continue to go to a repair shop. This role is about preventative maintenance, minor repairs, property upkeep, and making sure the facility and equipment stay in excellent condition.

The person we’re looking for is:

• Dependable and self-motivated
• Mechanically inclined and comfortable using tools
• Able to identify and solve everyday maintenance problems
• Comfortable operating tractors, ATVs, mowers, and similar equipment—or willing and able to learn
• Detail-oriented and takes pride in doing a job well
• Comfortable working independently
• Someone who sees what needs to be done without needing constant direction

This can be a part-time maintenance position for the right person.

There is also an opportunity for full-time employment for someone interested in combining property maintenance with barn chore shifts. Horse experience would be important for the barn-care portion of the position, but it is not necessary to be a horse professional to be considered for the maintenance-only role.

We are a small team, so reliability matters. We take excellent care of our horses and our facility, and we're looking for someone who will take the same pride in the property that we do.

Location: Legacy Sport Horses | Michigan City, Indiana

Dedicated Crew Member for Luxury Horse Facility

Legacy Sport Horses is a private, high-end sales facility in Michigan City, IN, specializing in Friesian Sport Horses. Our small team cares deeply about excellence—and we’re looking for one exceptional person to join us.

This role is for someone who is truly dependable. Horses can’t feed themselves or skip care when it’s inconvenient. That means showing up every day you’re scheduled—on time, no exceptions. You’ll be responsible for the daily well-being of the horses, including feeding, turnout, grooming, basic medical care, and assisting with farrier and vet visits.

We have detailed checklists for every task. You don’t have to guess what to do—but you do have to follow the system with precision. If you see a better way to do something, we welcome your ideas—but until a change is approved, we expect the system to be followed exactly as trained.

This job is ideal for someone who:

• Loves horses and finds joy in caring for them well

• Feels a sense of pride in doing things the right way

• Is self-motivated and focused when working solo

• Is 18 or older

• Is organized, detail-oriented, and consistent

Bonus points if you have experience working around young or training horses (not required, but appreciated).

This job is not for someone who calls off frequently, dislikes routine, or doesn’t take pride in the details. We’re a small team with high standards, and we rely on each other.  This position will definitely include weekends.

If this sounds like the kind of role you’d thrive in, email Callie@legacysporthorse.com and tell us a little about your experience. We’d love to hear from you!
